Precision Felling

The complete removal of a tree is sometimes necessary because of conflicting site use or the death or dangerous condition of the subject tree. If space permits this can be accomplished by directional felling, or if necessary the direction of fall can be controlled using skilled winching techniques. Where lack of space dictates sectional felling is required. The subject tree is systematically dismantled in a controlled and safe manner to avoid damage to surrounding obstacles. Roping, rigging equipment, mobile cranes and elevated platforms can be used if necessary.

Sectional felling

Crown Reductions

This process involves reducing the size of the tree's overall canopy. This is achieved by pruning the branches evenly throughout the crown. During this process dangerous deadwood and crossing branches can be removed or pruned to minimize the possibility of pathogens and disease infecting the tree.

Pollarding

Heavy Crown Reduction Pruning or Pollarding techniques are sometimes appropriate where the crown of a deciduous tree is simply too large for its location or in instances where extensive defects and weaknesses might make the tree unstable. Severe pruning of this type can stimulate vigorous regrowth. We will fully discuss the implementation of this technique with clients as required.

Pruning & Trimming

Crown Thinning

crown reduction Crown Thinning involves the selective removal of inner branches evenly throughout the trees crown. This is an effective method of allowing light to travel through the crown and allows air to circulate more effectively throughout the canopy without altering the tree's natural shape. As with Crown Reduction, dangerous dead wood and crossing branches can be removed during this operation.

Crown lifting

Crown lifting is the removal of selected branches and limbs from the lower part of the trees crown, thus lifting the crown’s overall height. Depending on the location of the tree, this process is generally performed to ensure vehicles and people can pass safely underneath or to allow more light to penetrate under the crown.

Deadwood Pruning

Deadwood Pruning is the removal from the tree of dead, dying or broken branches and diseased branch wood. This can be significant for the health of a tree and important in public areas or close to highways etc from the viewpoint of safety liability. However, where only limited public access occurs, wildlife may utilise deadwood for habitat and a food source. We appreciate the broad range of tree owners' interests and can advise and tailor works to meet these.

Fruit Tree Pruning

This is a specialist pruning activity and is aimed at fruit propagation and not solely at retaining a classic tree shape. We have carried out pruning of individual trees to whole orchards.

Hedge and Shrub Trimming and Pruning
